Bübchen is a leader in gentle cleansing for babies and children, with a correspondingly extensive portfolio of plastic bottles, which have been made exclusively from recycled plastic since 2022. By consistently converting its entire bottle portfolio to recycled material, Bübchen will save 634 tons of new plastic this year.
Since the acquisition of Bübchen by Dallmann's Pharma GmbH, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Katjes International GmbH & Co. KG, the Bübchen strategy has been focused on consistent sustainability. As one of the first companies in the baby and child care sector, Bübchen has been producing climate-neutrally since 2021. Bübchen is also a leader in recycling:
"As the market leader in baby and child care, we are proud to be taking a pioneering role in consistently switching all bottles to recycled plastic," says Bübchen CEO Martin Kemper. "The responsible use of limited resources is a fundamental building block in protecting our children's world."
After Bübchen was able to save 116 tons of new plastic in 2021 by switching to the iconic blue bottles, the transformation of the entire bottle range is now complete: All bottles* have been made from 100% recycled plastic since the beginning of the year.
The Bübchen recycled bottle
The use of recycled material does not necessarily equate to a closed material cycle. Bübchen uses rHDPE for all products whose properties allow it: a material that is not taken from the beverage industry's cycle. Only then is the circular system closed – so a Bübchen bottle can become another Bübchen bottle.
Commitment to the circular economy
In addition, Bübchen has been involved in the "Forum Rezyklat" since this year. This alliance brings together market participants along the entire packaging value chain, from industry and retail to the waste disposal and recycling sectors. The focus is on making the circular economy the new guiding principle. The Forum Rezyklat pools resources to achieve this goal together.
Martin Kemper is personally committed as a newly elected member of the steering team: "It is a personal concern of mine to support the Alliance of the Forum Rezyklat, to strengthen the circular economy and to raise consumer awareness."
The small footprint
Bübchen summarizes its sustainability commitment under the banner of the small footprint. To better inform consumers, all related measures are marked with the imprint of a baby's foot.
