HOW-TO GUIDE

DARE TO DO IT, DAD!

Children are the greatest gift for new parents: They enchant with their smiles and have mom and dad wrapped around their little finger in no time. But a newborn also turns everyday life upside down: sleepless nights, full diapers, a crying baby with a tummy ache. The mystery of "baby" can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, especially for new dads. Many are unsettled because they can't quite interpret their offspring's wishes, but still want to be involved in their care and upbringing. The days when only mothers stayed home and looked after their offspring are long gone - many men also make the most of their time with their newborns. Nevertheless, a little uncertainty remains - especially when fathers are alone with their offspring for the first time. But: dear dads, don't be afraid of full diapers and screaming babies! Bübchen tells you how you can now master bottles, changing tables, and rattles with ease!

1. FEEDING IN THE MORNING

Right after waking up, not only is Dad particularly hungry, but the baby is also looking forward to a delicious breakfast. For a special treat, dads can quickly and easily prepare the porridge themselves. Simply blend two slices of baby rusk with a small banana and 200 milliliters of hot water, let it cool to body temperature, and it's ready. For a fun breakfast, Dad can prepare the food while singing and play airplane with the spoon while feeding.

2. IN THE MORNING THE FOCUS IS ON THE DIAPER

It's that time – baby's bottom is giving off a distinct smell. Time to take a look inside the diaper. Changing a diaper can give dads a lot of headaches or stomachaches. Wiped here and there, powdered, and in the end the bottom is still a bit dirty. To get everything clean, simply wash the bottom with a washcloth and lukewarm water and then pat dry with a cloth. If a baby has a sore bottom, the best thing for dad to do is apply some diaper rash cream ( e.g. Bübchen's special diaper rash cream ) to the affected areas. Now all that's left to do is expertly seal the diaper, and he's done.

3. A LUNCHTIME TRIP

When the weather is nice, a trip into nature is just the thing: A walk with the stroller provides fresh air and relaxation. But how about simply wrapping your little one in a sling and going for a walk? The rocking motion gently rocks the baby to sleep, and the physical closeness strengthens the bond between dad and child. If tying the sling seems too complicated, you can also use a baby carrier. There are many different types. With the help of specially trained baby carrier consultants, you are guaranteed to find the right solution. A little tip: The consultants usually lend out the baby carriers for you to try out before you buy them – so nothing stands in the way of a dad-child outing.

4. RELAXED TUNES IN THE AFTERNOON

Listening to music together isn't just fun for dads, but for babies too. The melodic sounds are a wonderful soothing agent. But you can listen to more than just great children's songs on the CD player – dad can also dare to sing a little serenade. Whether you're a talented singer or a novice – babies love even the most offbeat tunes. For extra comfort while listening, lie down on the sofa and relax with your little one on your chest. Dad can also rub the baby's back. This intense physical contact fosters a closer bond and has a calming effect.

5. OFF TO DREAMLAND

As evening approaches, it's time to put the baby to bed. To help him or her fall asleep, dad can establish a regular bedtime routine. This helps the infant develop a regular sleep routine. How can dads help? Read a short story, sing a song, give a goodnight kiss on the forehead, or give a quick baby massage ( e.g., with Bübchen Baby Oil for delicate skin ) – the sky's the limit.
